The Funny Things Kids Say and Do - The Mother's Day Edition

A few days before Mother's Day each year, the Mr will ask the Mini Mes what gift ideas they have in mind for me. Jamster often opts for some cute beauty essentials which are ALWAYS bright pink (he knows me well) whereas Minxy, with more expensive taste (just like me), usually selects jewellery.

This year however the Mr hadn't asked the children and instead he picked up a few items, while shopping himself for convenience, which were stored ever so secretly above the fridge in a transparent bag and in a drawer I often use!

Mother's Day weekend came around quickly and the Mini Mes went off to their dad's house as scheduled. I hadn't expected to see them again until the evening of Mothering Sunday but then I received a text from Minxy...

Furbys, iPads and Pooh - Family Funny

Jamster is at the age where anything even slightly disgusting makes his eyes light up and sets him off in fits of laughter. He will pop up from anywhere at anytime shouting "pull my finger" but thankfully I've fallen for that once before to know I should avoid doing so again!

He is obsessed with Horrid Henry and his gruesome tales and he likes to play practical jokes on his big sister, as little brothers do. He loves slime, Toxic magazine and generally just being a little crude but we certainly love him for it and it definitely makes us all laugh too at times.

He has been connecting his Furby to the iPad since he got it at Christmas and apart from feeding it and playing games with it, he has recently discovered that he can make it *ahem* visit the toilet.
He burst into my bedroom to share this revelation while I was putting some washing away...

The Funny Things Kids Say and Do... Crafts

I regularly get the craft boxes out for the Mini Mes to be creative, usually when the weather is miserable to keep them occupied, and we often attend free craft events over the summer at the local leisure centre and churches.

While away last week we went to Chatsworth House and as the rain poured down we made shelter in the barn where they too had some great craft activities to keep little ones busy, until the sun reappeared.

First of all the Mini Mes coloured and cut out some glasses which I think reminded them of the cute yellow Minions of Despicable Me that they are currently obsessed with!

They even had left handed scissors available there which was great for my little lefties.

Minxy then decided to pick up some small envelopes which contained the materials to make some whales, so her and Jamster (and the Mr!) got stuck in.

Her finished whale was really sweet....

Until she opened it up and showed me the heart, blood and guts she had added using the red tissue paper...

That combined with her facial expression made me giggle!
She is definitely creative.

What funny things has your little one made?

The Funny Things Kids Say and Do...

Minxy visited the Royal Ballet in London at the end of last week with school and although she was very excited to be going and spent weeks counting down the days she wasn't that impressed...

Me: Did you have a good time?
Minxy: It was boring. I got told off for playing rock, paper scissors and talking.

I love her honesty!

She had written me a note on the smallest piece of paper while on the coach which she gave to me upon her return. One side said 'To mum, you're the best friend ever' and on the reverse it said...

Little suck up!

What has made you laugh this week?

The funny things kids say... school run conversations

The Mini Mes' school is only a few minutes walk away, we can actually see it from the front garden, so we don't really get any in-depth conversations on the way. We do however have a chance for a brief natter before we approach the gates and head inside and I love the random things that the Mini Mes come out with on the way...

Minxy: Can we sell Jamster?
Me: Sell him?
Minxy: Yea, he is just so irritating. Otherwise I need a sister so we can team up and defeat him.
Jamster: Oi!

--------------------------------------

Minxy: We are all quite strange at bed time aren't we mum.
Me: How is that?
Minxy: Well I talk in my sleep, Jamster dribbles, Nick snores and you fart.
Me: ..... errr

Have you had any interesting conversations this week?

The funny things kids say...

Minxy decided to help with hanging out the washing over the weekend and as she put some of my lingerie on the airer she noticed that it was rather small and transparent:

Minxy: "Erm mum, this won't keep you very warm will it and Nick will see your bits! Urghh."
*look of absolute disgust*

Thanks for pointing that one out... I do love how she speaks her mind.

------------------

While serving up dinner one evening Minxy decided to comment on my portion size:

Minxy: "Are you going to eat all of that? I think you should go on Man vs Food."

Again, thank you for your honesty!

------------------

While sat at the table reading with Minxy one evening after school I heard Jamster upstairs:

Jamster: "OWWW"
Me: "Are you OK? What have you done?"
Jamster: "Minxy just pinched me!"
Me: "Errm I don't think she did Jamster, she has been downstairs reading with me for a while"
Jamster: "Oh."

Little monster was trying to get his sister in trouble when she hadn't done anything wrong.
A good try but no luck this time dude!

------------------

While Minxy is swimming Jamster and I sit in the pool area to watch and he always surprises me with rather random questions:

Jamster: How does Spider Man have web in his wrist? He got bit on his neck so surely it should come out of his mouth.

Jamster: How are rainbows made?

I love how he wants to know about everything and is always keen to learn... I just don't always have the answers to respond with in a way that he will understand. Google has become my friend.

Have you had any cringe worthy moments this week?

The funny things kids say...

This week the Mini Mes have said a few things that have made me smirk, giggle and cringe too, as kids do. Luckily nothing too insulting to others or out in public however so I have survived quite nicely without huge embarrassment!

Jamster: You know the PPI adverts mum?
Me: Yes, what about them?
Jamster: Did you know PPI backwards is I P P (I pee pee). *giggles*

----------------

Minxy: Are Always pads like nappies for grown ups? *laughs hysterically* I can't believe ladies wee their pants!

----------------
Jamster wanted to play with Minxy but she was adamant that he would not be going in her room...

Me: Aww Minxy, be nice to Jamster and let him play with you too.
Minxy: OK then mum. But I'll only be nice for an hour. I'll set my timer.

Have your little ones said anything entertaining this week?

The funny things they say and do

Wot So Funee?

The Mini Mes are forever coming out with one-liners that I find hilarious or drawing things that are unbelievably cute yet funny. I thought I would share a few from this week!

Minxy, at school while unpacking her reading book and pencil case from her bag, was appraoached by a boy in her class...

Boy: My friend has a crush on you!
Minxy: I soooo need to move school mum.

The look of absolute horror combined with disgust was priceless!

The ice cream van was outside playing its tune to summon all of the local children.

Jamster: Can I have an ice cream please mummy?
Me: I'm cooking dinner in a minute so not really little dude plus I've got some in the freezer already.
Jamster: You hate me don't you!

The crossed arms and scowl made me snigger, just a little bit.

Apparently this is someone jumping from a bouncy castle into the sun then onto a volcano. I love Jamster's imagination!
