Fairy Frolics

Minxy hadn't lost any teeth in quite a while so the moment she noticed one was a little wobbly at the weekend she decided to tug at it until she pulled it out, despite my best attempts to persuade her not to. Ouch!

I think she was a bit shocked once it was actually in her hand and she felt a little bit guilty for being impatient and not allowing nature to take its course.

Her note to the tooth fairy is proof of that...

She was rather apologetic and even provided a gift for the fairy!

The fairy didn't have any cash to hand, possibly due to the fact a tooth loss was quite unexpected, so she wrote a tiny letter back, left a new book (she raided Santa's stash hidden in my wardrobe, oops) and added some sequins and glitter to the pile. 

Minxy was very pleased that Felicity Fairy prefers the cello....
Funnily enough that is the instrument she plays too.

Make-Believe Magic

I'm fairly sure that Minxy is no longer a believer *sob*. She has doubted Santa for a few years but if it works in her favour she is happy to play along!

She is hoping Father Christmas brings her some rather pricey gifts...

...she gets more and more like me every day with her expensive taste.

I'm glad she has mentioned the return of the Elf on the Shelf, it reminds me that although my beautiful tween is growing up she still appreciates the build up to the big day and that she is still a little girl at heart.
I'm really looking forward to dusting him off for some festive fun.

I also liked the fact that she added a comment about her being good 'most of the time'.
She is unbelievably honest!

Apparently she is only ever naughty if someone has irritated her though. Hmmm.

Bribery from the Tooth Fairy

Silence or whispering is never a good sign when you have a 6 and an 8 year old. It usually means trouble!

I could hear lowered voices on Thursday evening and I wondered what was occurring upstairs.

Me: What are you up to?

Minxy: Nothing. Everything is fine mum.

Jamster: Shhhhh! (Followed by a slurping noise)

Minxy to Jamster: *Whispering* Just do it!

Me: You aren't trying to pull Jamster's tooth out are you?

Jamster: It doesn't hurt mum. I really need the cash.

I'm fairly certain the tooth fairy doesn't leave £50 notes under pillows so I can't imagine he needs the £1 that desperately !!

When it did finally fall out on Friday, at school in the playground, his letter to the tooth fairy made me chuckle too...

"Please can I have a Skylanders Bee Giants and money"

He had obviously wanted to pull his tooth out to see if the tooth fairy would bring him both money and a new Skylander Giant... cheeky, but wise that one!

The tooth fairy replied (she is wise and cunning also it would appear) and left a £1....

Perhaps a little bribery from the tooth fairy will stop the fuss he makes each morning and evening in the bath room when it comes to cleaning his teeth!?

The end of make-believe magic?

Now that the kids are back at school, Autumn is here and the shops are filling up fast with gift ideas it has got me thinking about the C word.  I love this time of year, I always go a little over the top with presents and decorations, which is almost traditional for our family, but I'm wondering how long the magic will last. The Mini Mes are getting older by the minute and becoming quite inquisitive little things questioning pretty much everything. With this brings doubts about the Tooth Fairy, Easter Bunny and of course Santa.

'Is Santa real?' 

This has popped up a few times. I keep wondering when is best to be honest and accept that my babies are growing up. That on Christmas Eve I don't need to leave a special key out for the fat man in red and bite into a carrot like a reindeer (the sherry drinking I'm quite fond of!). When is the right time to tell the truth?

I also worry that telling Minxy, will ruin the magic for little Jamster who is still a firm believer!
