Monday Me

TheMiniMesandMeIt can be a struggle as a parent to get time to yourself to just put your feet up and unwind or head out for a meal with your other half, but that's where Monday Me comes in...

Monday Me is all about child free time. Whether that's a charity sky dive, spa day, shopping trip, watching a movie - anything you have enjoyed without the kids clinging on to your ankles!

Joining in can actually help you to make time for yourself even if it's just reading a new book or taking a soak in the tub with a face mask - it's the little moments that can really make such a difference to how you are feeling.

My Monday Me

The Mini Mes didn't want to go to their dads home on Wednesday as planned, I think they were too tired from our day trip the day previous, so my usual child free evening didn't go ahead! However, every mum needs the odd break so I still tried to squish in a few tiny relaxing moments.

Friday evening when the kids were snoring away I had a long soak in the bath. I tend to have showers but laying in warm water is almost theraputic at times. I sneaked in a boost duo (nomnom), the kindle and some lovely new Zingy Berry shower gel to squirt on my pink scrunchie.

It smells delicious, I'm quite into fruity smelling products and this was lovely.

I've also got a new hair dye to try when a get another spare minute. Mocha Brown is the shade.

What have you done for you this week?

Link up your posts here and you can grab the badge from the side bar too if you like!

Monday Me

TheMiniMesandMeIt can be hard as a parent to get time to yourself to relax a little but it's important to get the odd breather away from the chaos and kids!

Monday Me is all about child free time. Joining in can actually help you to make time for yourself even if it's just reading a new book or taking a soak in the tub with a face mask - it's the little moments that can really make such a difference to how you are feeling.

My Monday Me

Wednesday night we took advantage of the Orange 2 for 1 cinema tickets and went to see Batman with the lovely Tom Hardy as Bane and Christian Bale as Batman. It was a great movie, despite being quite long, and I thoroughly enjoyed an evening out cuddled up on the back row with the Mr. We also popped to KFC on the way back for a late night snack! Popcorn chicken is my weakness.

Friday evening the kids headed to their dad's house for the weekend so I got to watch some of the Olympics, enjoy a glass of wine and delicious food at home with my feet up. Saturday we went to see Ted which is a rather naughty comedy movie about a swearing, drug abusing bear! It had both the Mr and I giggling in the back seats. In the evening we went to a pub quiz where we came fourth... we won £5 which barely covered the price of a drink and packet of mini cheddars but it was a funny evening with family and friends and we had a great time getting home around 2am!

The Mr stood at the poster!
Sunday we popped into town for breakfast which involved a trip to Muffin Break for a peppermint chocolate slice - yum! Even without the kids I could't resist popping into the Disney store (anyone else love it in there?) to get Jamster a spiderman lunch bag, pe bag, backpack and filled pencil case ready for going back to school. I did however spend my £25 boots voucher that I won from BritMums in a Twitter party recently on myself.

Monday me #7

TheMiniMesandMe

The first week of the summer holidays seems to have flown by but despite the Mini Mes being at home pretty much 24/7 I've still managed to squeeze in a little Me Time!

If you would like to join in with Monday Me, you can read more here

My Monday Me

The Mini Mes usually go to their dad on a Wednesday but neither wanted to this week so they remained at home, however they went round on the Thursday night instead. The Mr and I enjoyed a lovely evening stroll with the poochie around the local fields. I've actually found an app, Samsung Hope Relay, which is like a walking tracker and for every mile you do they give £1 to charity. You can make your own little person for it too by taking or uploading a picture! It made me feel as though my dog walking efforts in the muddy woods and fields is not only beneficial to me in terms of my health and fitness but to others too!

I've downloaded a selection of new books for my Kindle Touch to read over the next few weeks. They were suggested by friends so I'm not sure if they are my usual taste but I like to go on recommendations.

Snowflakes in June - Emily Britton
A million little pieces - James Fray
Dirty game - Jessie Keane
What will survive - Mark Gartside
The house of women - Anne Brear
The secret diary of a single mum - Katherine Williams

Have you read any of these? What did you think?

Monday Me #6

TheMiniMesandMeMonday is here again and that means it's time to look back over the past week and have a peek at what we have done for ourselves. The kids always take priority but it's also good to enjoy a bit of me time and that's what Monday Me is all about. Time to yourself! Whether you have been reading a new book, purchased a new outfit for or had a lovely weekend away child free you can link up your posts here.

My Monday Me

Wednesday the Mini Mes headed to their dads house so the Mr, my mum and I headed out for dinner. My mum and I shared a litre of pinot grigio as the Mr was the chosen driver and we all had beautiful steaks, mine was with chips, buttered peas and peppercorn sauce. We all had huge sundaes afterwards too, mine was filled with cookie pieces, it defeated me though as I couldn't eat it all.

Friday to Sunday we were also child free as it was the Mini Mes weekend to be with their dad. Friday night was a relaxing evening in with a chip shop tea (not quite what was on the planner). Saturday I went on the Mr's motorbike for the first time which was a little scary at first but I really enjoyed it to the extent we went and got me my own kit, pink of course, in the afternoon. The evening involved a curry with my parents, drinks and darts at a local pub and Sunday was a day in doing chores, ordering the food shopping and generally chilling.

Monday Me #5

TheMiniMesandMe

If you fancy joining in with this link up, now a blog hop, you can find out a bit more here and grab the badge. It's basically sharing things that you have done for yourself - not the kids, Mr or pets. After all, we all need a breather at times!

Getting involved may actually encourage you to treat yourself or to have a few minutes to yourself when you don't currently!

My Monday Me

I had the kids all of last week so I didn't really get much time to myself until the weekend. I popped into town for a few hours and having seen the word SALE in so many shops I was tempted to have a nosey around and spend my remaining birthday vouchers. I picked up these cute little pumps in New Look for £12.99. I love all that is pink and being 6ft I live in ballet pumps! I really like the floral print.

My Monday Me

Last week my mum treated me to a few bits in Lush when we were shopping and I've thoroughly enjoyed some tub time in the evenings! I adore Lush products and this week I've used a Creamy Candy, Sex Bomb and Dorothy. They smell delicious but my all time favs are still Twilight, Sweetie Pie and Comforter... anything feminie that smells like a sweet shop generally!

Saturday we were child free from 10am so I made the most of some me time with a foot long tikka subway and a trip to see Spiderman at the cinema. I love Marvel movies and I actually felt this was better than the original. Jamster has been asking to see it since so I will probably go again during the summer with the Mini Mes too.

In the evening I headed to The Imli Lounge in Northampton for a wonderful curry with the Mr, my brother and my parents. I indulged with a lamb tikka masala, pilau rice, keema naan and bombay potato OINK. It was fab though.

Sunday after a lovely lay in the Mr and I headed to Hollowell for the annual Steam and Heavy Horse show. Again I scoffed naughty foods in the form of a hog roast roll with stuffing and some caramel and chocolate fudge. The mud was incredibly slippy and deep but thankfully I had my funky floral wellies on!

Even after all of the above my exercise and calorie counting, Monday - Friday at least, has paid off with a 2lb loss!

What have you done this week for you? I would love to hear!

Monday Me #3

TheMiniMesandMeIt's time to look back over the past week and see what you have been doing for you! It's important to have me time and that's what this linky is all about. Taking a few mins for yourself, even if it's reading a book, enjoying a coffee with a friend or getting very, very drunk at the weekend - you can share your post here.

My Monday Me

Weight loss
I've weighed myself this morning and I've lost 1lb! Only a small amount but I didn't put on or stay the same, a loss is a loss *woop woop*.

Hen night
Saturday night I headed to a local chinese buffet called Mandarin for a delicious meal followed by a cocktail bar and pub. I decided to be the driver so I didn't drink all night but I still had a fab time with the bride to be, her family and friends as well as my sister, mum and sister-in-law-to-be-one-day. The Mr was out with the stag do of the same couple and they went dog racing before we met back up later in the eve. I can't wait for the wedding reception next week... I just need to find a dress!

Monday Me #2

TheMiniMesandMe
Monday is here again.... so soon booo! But last week I had some quality me time to enjoy yay.
I had an entire child free weekend - yes that's right Friday afternoon until Sunday evening without the Mini Mes and we definately made the most of it!

Friday night was a relaxing evening in. I enjoyed a bottle of Blossom Hill and we watched The Mechanic again with the very hot Mr Statham as eye candy! Definately dig the rough and ruggid look, phroar! The Mr cooked a lovely turkey lasagne for dinner (not quite what the meal planner had in order but anyway) so it was a proper feet-up-do-nothing night.

Saturday I enjoyed a peaceful lay in and was brought a Cadbury's hot chocolate in bed mid morning and sausage sandwiches. The Mr spoils me! We were going to a darts tournament but we ended up having a look around Homebase, Halfords and Argos for a few bits for the home instead as a lot of people we knew had dropped out. In the evening we headed to the pub where we met up with my brother and parents and had a few vodka and orange juices and played darts.

I woke hangover free Sunday morning yay and we had more sausage sandwiches (uh oh my waistline will suffer at this rate). In the afternoon we went to the Huntsman in Dunchurch to celebrate my cousins 18th birthday. There were 16 of us in total and the food was amazing! Despite being an all you can eat cavery I behaved and had one plate ... but then induldged with a delicious extravaganza dessert. You know it's big when the waitress asks if you are sharing. But I wasn't OINK! Oops but yum.

What have you enjoyed this week that was for you? I hope you managed to enjoy some time to yourself. You can read more about the link up here.

Monday Me #1

Monday Me is my new link up all about things for you. Not the kids or Mr  - just you time. Hopefully it will encourage or help you to have a break here and there! Me time is important afterall and sometimes the fact we are people and not just parents can be forgotten.

You can link up your posts about you at the bottom, these can be anything from a holiday, new course, pampering session, book review, meal out etc and I hope that you will then pop over to read other posts too. *Fingers crossed more than one person joins in!*

If you want to read a bit more about it you can here.

My Monday Me

New job
Last week I started a new job! I left my previous one as an Editors Assistant back in April after suffering with depression and having a bit of a break down eek. After a few weeks trying to find my mojo, seeking medical help and with some great support from family and friends I headed back out into the big wide world. I'm only doing a few hours at the moment but interacting with people again is really helping and being at a school the hours are super around the children... plus I will get the summer holiday off and not need to worry about childcare fees, bonus! It's given me a sense of achievement and I'm enjoying it so far.

Back on the diet

Yep. It needs to be done, pah! Ever since we went on holiday all inclusive last year my food intake has increased dramatically and I've barely been exercising. This of course has resulted in a not-so- attractive jelly belly and it's got to the point that it NEEDS to be shifted. I weighed myself this morning and I shall be calorie counting and exercising three times a week at home and increasing my walking. Hopefully I'll be able to report back next week that I've shredded a few pounds! I want a bikini body again.

Cheeky Spartan attacking the washing
Wonder of walking
Ever since we got Spartan, the puppy, back on New Years Day the Mr has taken him out for walks or all of us as a family. This week the Mr had his bike test (and passed) so he didn't get round to walking him in the morning. Therefore me and the poochie headed out just the two of us. I actually enjoyed it far more than I expected. It gave me time to think and just enjoy some peace and quiet walking through muddy fields and woods. I think I need to try this more often. It was very relaxing and I felt refreshed afterwards, even if covered in brambles!

What have you been up to this week for you?
